Country Week

Could I wish the students participating in Country Week all the very best.  May this event be filled with camaraderie and unforgettable experiences. Embrace the spirit of teamwork, determination and sportsmanship as you compete and represent your Great Southern Grammar. Remember to support and encourage one another and above all, have fun and enjoy the journey. Thank you to Director of Sport, Mr Nathan Symonds, and to all staff who are travelling to Perth with students.

Gratitude

A recent study showed that teens who had high levels of gratitude when entering Secondary School had fewer negative emotions and depression and more positive emotions, life satisfaction, and happiness for years after they finished school. They also had more hope and a stronger sense of meaning in life. Another study, which followed students over six months, showed that feeling grateful motivated adolescents to help others and use their strengths to contribute to society.

That’s wonderful for the grateful students. But what about the others? Can students learn to cultivate gratitude and reap the benefits? At this week's assembly we presented the notion that gratitude can be learnt and practised. You can start with acknowledgement of the goodness in your own life. Gratitude can then be shown to others.

Both Stella and Pierce, our School Captains, continued the theme of gratitude in their speeches at the Secondary School Assembly on Monday, which you can read on the 'Secondary School' page or on MyGSG.

Student Enrolment Contract

The School’s enrolment contract was recently updated to ensure the requirement of the school community to act in accordance with the School's values is clear and incorporates the Parent Code of Conduct and Communications Guidelines in the significant policies and documents area. If you have any questions relating this update, please contact Business Manager, Mr Andrew Orr.
