IGSSA Head of the River
Our girl’s squad have completed their final week of preparation before the IGSSA Head of the River this Saturday, 24 June 2023 at Champion Lakes. All our crews are in a fantastic position to take home a trophy or have a podium finish, so please come down to support the John XXIII Rowing Club and cheer the girls on!
Can't make it to the Regatta, no stress, you can access the livestream link to the event here:
New Equipment
John XXIII Rowing Club has recently bought two double sculls and borrowed two single sculls from Trinity College. These boats are earmarked for our Senior Boys Squad as they are better suited for crews of their size and calibre. John XXIII College extends its gratitude to the Trinity College Rowing Club for their generosity as these boats will allow us to enter more crews in better-suited boats, improving point-scoring opportunities at the All Schools State Championships next term.
Nutrition Presentation
In late July John XXIII Rowing Club will be hosting a nutrition presentation evening. Rowing is a demanding sport and fuelling a rower’s body is crucial to meet the physicality of training and racing. More details will be announced once confirmed.
Stack Team App
Just a reminder, if you haven’t already, please download the ‘Stack Team App’ on your phone as this is the central place for rowing information, including schedules, training updates, and access to the rowing handbook. It is important that all rowers and parents have access.
Go to the App Store or Google Play and download Stack Team App onto your mobile device, then follow these simple steps:
- Sign-up for the Stack Team App. You’ll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
- Log in and search for JTCRC, then request to become a member.
Asthma and allergies
All rowers with asthma or allergies are reminded to bring asthma puffers, EpiPens or required medication to all sessions.

Boys (Years 9 to 12) | Girls (Years 9 to 12) | |
---|---|---|

Diamond Fitness
We are very excited to have Diamond Fitness deliver a Strength and Conditioning program specific to rowing. To get the most out of this program, Diamond Fitness have requested that they coach our Years 10 to 12 rowers in groups no larger than 15. This will allow them to teach good form and movement patterns which the rowers will learn for life beyond school.
To accommodate this, the boys' Wednesday morning session will run from 6am-8am, with the group split into two smaller groups rotating between the Erg session and Strength & Conditioning session. Years 10 to 12 boys will then have Wednesday afternoon off.
Group 1 | Group 2 | |
---|---|---|
6am-7am | S&C | Erg |
7am-8am | Erg | S&C |
Years 10 to 12 girls will have their Strength & Conditioning session on Thursday afternoons 3:30pm-4:30pm.
Rowers, please note: coaches will continue to take attendance for these land training sessions and report if a rower is only turning up for Diamond Fitness and neglecting the equally valuable erg sessions.
