Principal's Report
Dear Parents,
Welcome back for term three. Hopefully everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable mid-year break. By now I hope all parents have had the opportunity to review your child's semester one report on XUNO. This new style of report was made available to parents on the last day of term two in preparation for parent-teacher interviews which will be held tomorrow from 1:30pm and Thursday from 3:45pm. Bookings for interviews can be made on the XUNO app. Please remember school will finish tomorrow at 1pm ready for interviews from 1:30pm.
Specialist teachers will be available in The Hive and Intervention/ Support Teachers will be available in Room 10. Bookings are not required for these teachers.
On our recent trip interstate, Stephanie Sousa and I visited a number of school who are actively implementing their 'Pedagogical Principles' which can be thought of as the key principles of teaching and learning that occur at their school. Whilst school values are at the heart of how we interact and respond to each other, pedagogical principles are key elements of how we believe students learn best, and how we can best teach them at this setting.
For Mackellar Primary School we have used our school mascot - the bee - to help frame ours. Our pedagogical principles are:
Be/e Connected, Be/e Curious, Be/e Challenged and Be/e Creative.
As these principles become a more entrenched part of our use and language at school, no doubt you will hear and see more of their practice in classrooms and learning spaces - so stay tuned!
Kind Regards,
Simon McGlade
