Action For Happiness

Joyful June

What gave me joy this week at school?

  • Watching a student making progress with his reading and giving himself positive feedback.
  • The numerous good mornings that were said as I walked down the corridor.
  • Laughing with colleagues about the humourous things children did or said without realising they have touched your heart or your funny bone.
  • Listening to two students offer to help at the Thursday afternoon BBQ - thank you, Goai and Ahjay.
  • Having an amazing conversation with a student in Year 6 as we worked collaboratively to problem-solve situations.

What will give me joy on the long weekend?

  • Having a long weekend!
  • Having breakfast with my husband out at a cafe on my day off.
  • My family offering to come over and spend a day with us in the garden even though they are off on holidays early next week.
  • Reading more than one page of a novel.
  • Cooking a nourishing meal which meant I didn't have to cook a couple of extra times during the school week.

As you can read, my Joyful June experiences aren't grand gestures. They are opportunities to appreciate the small things around me that give me satisfaction at work and home, and I am grateful for them.

Wishing you all a Joyful June....even if it is almost July!
