Student Allowances and Subsidies 2023

Below are details of the remaining student allowances and subsidies for 2023. If a particular allowance or subsidy applies to your situation, please complete the associated application form, and return it to the address indicated on the form. 

These forms are also available for download on our website and in Compass under Community > School Documentation > Financials. 

Boarding Away from Home Allowance (BAHA) $1,350 

Ag Special Subsidy closes Monday, 31 July 2023!

The Department of Education makes available a student Boarding Away from Home Allowance each year to families with children attending primary and/or secondary school and boarding in residential accommodation.

The allowance consists of two components:

• Agricultural Special Subsidy which applies to all students in residents who are not in receipt of Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC) from the Department of Human Services (Centrelink).
• AIC Subsidy which applies to all students who are currently in receipt of AIC from the Department of Human Services (Centrelink).

Staffing Updates

Long-term employee Julie Lehane has officially informed the College that she will not be returning to her role. Julie has worked at the College in various capacities for 12 years before commencing leave a year ago. We take this opportunity to wish Julie well and thank her for her contribution to the College and public education.

Whilst Julie has been on leave, Tamara Cybula has been in the role on a fixed term basis. We formally congratulate Tamara in gaining permanency at the College. 

The College also said goodbye to Marie Lubiana who has been at the College for the past 4 years in laundry, cleaning and kitchen roles. Marie is looking to undertake further studies and move into the age care sector. We wish you well Marie. 

We welcome Jemma Richards to our cleaning team. Jemma has previous school cleaning experience and comes to us from the West Coast. Welcome Jemma.
