NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest continuous living cultures on earth.

The 2023 National NAIDOC Week Poster, ‘For Our Elders’, is designed by Ngarluma, Kariyarra, Nyulnyul and Yawuru artist Bobbi Lockyer.

At EHPS, we have celebrated NAIDOC Week in 2023 in our classrooms, including the display on the front fence of the school in Essex Road created by Year 1 and Year 6 students in their buddy session in the last week of Term 2.
