On Tuesday I was fortunate to share a productive conversation about our school with Dean White our Executive Director and Chad Bliss our School Director. We discussed data trends and opportunities to enhance opportunities for the students at Molong Central School. The timing for this conversation was perfect with school planning underway.
We have numerous strategies currently in progress to advance students to higher performance levels including the COVID Intensive Learning Support program in 2022. The program is aimed to build the skills of numeracy and literacy in students to ensure they have every opportunity to reach their potential. This is small group tuition based on best practice and we hope to support as many students as possible during this program.
We have prioritised Face to Face teaching at Molong Central School in the past 4 weeks and although there have some disruptions due to COVID, overall I have been very impressed with our students and teachers’ efforts to make a great start for 2022. As you can imagine it is very difficult teaching with a mask on and from a student’s perspective it is difficult to learn with a mask on. Having visited many classes and attended meetings I know our staff are committed to achieving the best outcomes for our students despite the masks and I am confident we are moving in the right direction.
“Jake’s Place” is a place of great joy for our Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 students. Kindergarten students have also had opportunities to interact with each other using play. Play develops fine motor skills, calms children down, encourages creativity, enhances social skills, and supports numeracy and literacy.
Our Molong Central P&C have continued to meet during COVID via ZOOM. The Week 6 Meeting will start with the AGM and there will also be an option to ZOOM in should parents choose. Up for discussion is uniform and at the last meeting it was decided that a uniform committee be formed to determine what the community sentiment is regarding school uniform.
The Draft Molong Central High Potential and Gifted Education policy will be discussed at the P&C on Monday 28th February. The high potential and gifted education policy promotes engagement and challenge for every student regardless of background across intellectual, creative, social, emotional and physical domains and is designed to support students through the identification of talent development opportunities and differentiated teaching and learning practices. Whist we currently have informal processes in place that allow students to fulfill their talents and goals, this will enhance opportunities for students identified through the process.
The P&C meet Monday’s week 3, 6 and 9 of each term at 6:30 PM in the Wellbeing Hub. All parents and carers are welcome to come along and discuss current issues and concerns and be presented with new initiatives and future planning for Molong Central School. The Wellbeing Hub is the house on the corner of Smith and Phillip St.
Zoom is also an option, details below:
