Team Spirit is Our Competitive Edge

The Sports Dept has plunged right back into it, and we have already had a very busy Term 1. Our first major event was the House Swimming Carnival on Friday 25 February. Sherlock were looking for three wins in a row after going back-to-back in 2020/2021; however, McAuley, Frayne and Goold were desperate to put an end to the Sherlock dominance in recent years. The atmosphere was electric and there were amazing scenes with students lining the side of the pool to cheer on their houses. The noise could have rivalled an AFL grand final and the best part of the day was seeing so many smiley faces. With only the relays to go, it was McAuley and Sherlock who were neck and neck with only four points in it. After a gallant effort by Frayne, Goold and McAuley, it was Sherlock who took out the carnival with an impressive five out of six relay wins to finish off the day.

Congratulations to Eloise Robinson in Year 8 for winning the Opie Shield for the most outstanding performance in the carnival.

The SCSA swim team has just commenced their morning sessions, and the team will be led by swim team Captain Claudia Cover, and Vice-Captain Lucy Wilson. Our students are currently hard at work to prepare for the jump in standard to Division 1 after having conquered Division 2 in 2021.

2022 brings excitement to the College landscape and I have no doubt that the past couple of years have taught us the importance of moving our bodies, to just give things a go and have fun.

The volleyball program has just commenced its weekly training and it has been wonderful to see so many new students getting involved.

We have SCSA tennis on 11 March and indoor cricket on March 18. The SCSA swimming meet  March 24 and the House Athletics carnival 30 March.

In other words, plenty of opportunities to get involved and have some fun!!!
