From the Principal

Dear Parents / Carers,

Welcome to the 2022 school year! I would like to extend a warm welcome to our families with whom we have had a long-term association, and to those who have joined our school community for the first time.

The start to the school year has been sensational. Our students are enthusiastic. They have settled in well, and are working with their teachers to establish their new learning communities. The staff spent last Friday working together, to make sure that that we laid the foundations for quality teaching and learning in 2022. Our teachers also spent considerable time over the summer break reading student reports from the previous year. Many of our teachers worked in the school last week to organise and prepare the learning materials for the 2022 school year.

We have returned from the break ready for the new school year. We are so pleased that we are onsite. A warm welcome is extended to staff who returned to Rowville Primary School in 2022. We also welcome some new teachers to our wonderful school. We welcome Ms Campitelli (Foundation); Mrs Newman (Garden/Environment); Ms Collins (Year 5); Ms Groves (Year 3); Ms Coloe (Year 6). Mrs Bellofiore is returning from maternity leave and will be sharing Year 2 with Mrs Mastorakis. We also welcome Ms Williams who is a qualified Horticulturist and will team up with our Garden/Environment teacher.

Our School Captains for 2022 are:

The start of a school year is the time to establish expectations and routines. This is particularly important this year, as the last two years have been less structured than usual. Establishing a steady routine is most important if your child is to make a good start to the new school year. Both at home and at school, it will greatly benefit each child if clear guidelines can be established for sleep, exercise and rest, school needs (homework) and individual needs.

Enclosed with this newsletter is the DET Privacy policy which we adhere to as a school. I respectfully remind all parents that taking of photographs, by parents on school grounds, is not permitted as it has the potential to contravene the privacy policy. Teachers will take photographs and distribute to parents.

Many parents have reported to me that they have had problems booking their children in a vaccination centre. As a result, we have formed a partnership with Liberty Medical Centre. A vaccination clinic will be held at our school gym on Saturday 5 February. Free vaccinations will be administered by a doctor and nurses to children from 9.00am-11.00. Please register on COMPASS events by 9.00am Friday 4 February. At the moment vaccinations are the best protection we have for our children.
