Id Quod Volo

On Tuesday 7 June all Year 11 students participated in ‘Id Quod Volo’, which translates in English to ‘that which I desire’. The day was focused on exploring different leadership models, particularly servant leadership with Christ as our example. The day commenced with Cassie from Izra who facilitated a workshop called 'Markers' to look at the different emotions and experiences we face as leaders and to see how we can use them to serve those in our community. Students were then led by the House Coordinators and accompanied by their Homeroom teachers to spread across the metropolitan area, volunteering at various locations. Some of these places included the Cana Communities – an organisation providing support, short to middle term accommodation, and respite for those in need or at-risk, the Swan Estuary Reserves Action Group Inc. (SERAG), Coastcare Cottesloe and Natural Resource Management Perth (NRM) on the 'Adopt a Beach Program' (coastal rehabilitation and beach cleanup) and others.

The students will now receive an introduction to the leadership opportunities on the Student Representative Council in 2023.

Thank you to the House Coordinators and Homeroom teachers for their organisation and facilitation on the day.

The students were amazing!

Refugee Week is an opportunity to raise awareness about refugees and celebrate their positive contribution to Australian society. We want to create a welcoming culture and better understanding between different communities to encourage successful integration that enables refugees to live in safety and to continue making a valuable contribution to Australia.

As part of this celebration, we are excited to welcome the Fare Go Food truck back to the College. The Fare Go Food Truck is a social enterprise staffed by refugees and asylum seekers. Athletics Training

After a magical conclusion to cross-country last week, all our sights are now set on the next third and final major sporting event of the year… Athletics!

Over the past few years, John XXIII College has been on an ACC Athletics journey:

  • 2019 – We were the winners of the B Division ACC Athletics carnival, promoting us to A Division
  • 2020 – We had the goal to ‘Stay in A’ in which we achieved with great pride and passion
  • 2021 – Our team were the runner ups at the ACC A Division Carnival by a mere four points

It’s safe to say, that come Thursday 14 September… Anything is possible. It will all come down to how well our students train in the lead up, bond as a team and bring it all together on the day.

Please find the training schedule attached below. Training for athletics will commence next week. We are very lucky to have both indoor and outdoor venues available, so training will take place rain, hail or shine. If there are any changes to the schedule this will be communicated in the notices and newsletter.
