Years 8 and 9 EISM Term 2 Grand Finals

Well done to all of our Years 8 and 9 students who recently completed their Term 2 season of EISM Sport. Kilvington has had some fantastic results across the season with most teams finishing 4th place or higher. Three of our teams qualified for the Grand Finals. These were held on Thursday 16 June.

GIRLS SOCCER

This team went through the home and away season undefeated and continued on their winning ways in the Grand Final, defeating the Huntingtower School 4 – 1.

A stellar season from the girls who showed much dominance and class in the way they performed week to week. Well done to Clancy Westaway who brilliantly led the team throughout the season. She kicked the four goals in the final and was awarded the Most Valuable Player medal. Many thanks to Mr Moloney for taking the girls.

BOYS SOCCER

Another team who had a cracking season. Coached magnificently by Mr Bustin and Maks Andjelkovic, the boys went through to the final even on points with Bialik College.

During the season, both schools played a 2-2 draw so the final was always going to be a tight encounter.

In the Grand Final match, scores were locked at 0-0 at the end of regular play; extra time would have to decide this premiership. Unfortunately, Bialik scored two late goals. However, our team should be proud of their Runners-Up flag. Most Valuable Player was awarded to Thomas Kokosoulis. Great effort.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL 'A' TEAM

The team has come a long way throughout this season. Regular afterschool training sessions really paid off as they refined their volleyball technique superbly each and every week.

The Grand Final match against Oakleigh Grammar was an extremely close contest. A fifth and deciding set was needed to separate the two schools. Well done to Oakleigh who held their nerve to secure a tight tussle.

Congratulations to our boys who should also be proud of their journey and Runners-Up Flag. MVP for this game was Sean Darvell. Thanks to Chris Vlachos and Maks Andjelkovic for their work and coaching the team.

Senior School Cross Country

It was fantastic to have our Senior School Cross Country return to our Sporting Calendar on 15 June. Due to COVID restrictions, the last time we held this event was in 2019!

Although a little chilly, the wet and artic conditions Melbourne has endured over the last month held off enough for our students to give their best efforts in completing the 3kms course at EE Gunn.

All students who finished the event received points for their House. Well done to Fysh House who took home all three trophies.
