RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS

During Term 2 we have been learning about the Respectful Relationships topic -

Help Seeking.  We all experience all kinds of challenges as we grow and develop.

Help seeking behaviours are fundamental to our wellbeing. Being aware of help-seeking options is important and we practise, discuss and role play so that we become confident to seek help form appropriate people when needed.

Throughout the term we have participated in a range of activities including;

  • practising solving simple interpersonal problems
  • identifying ways to care for others, including ways of making and keeping friends
  • discussing the importance of seeking help when dealing with problems that are too big to solve alone
  • practising how to ask for help from adults and peers
  • working out who our trusted adults are that we can approach to get the help we need

Here are our helping hands -

listing who we can approach to ask for help and those we might be able to help.

MATHS

Last week we continued to work on our subtraction strategies. We read subtraction stories, acted many of them out and then identified the important information so that we could solve them. Then we were each given a subtraction equation and had to write our very own subtraction stories to match. Can you solve our problems?

LITERACY

We watched Miss Terri conduct a demonstration about planting seeds. We were each given our own seed kit and by carefully following the steps, planted our own seeds. The seeds were a mix of herbs, flowers, vegetables and fruit (we learnt that tomatoes are actually a fruit!)

This experience has formed the basis of our writing, where we have planned, drawn pictures and brainstormed key words. These have all helped us to write a recount about the seed planting activity. Now we are watching to see how they grow.......

We have been revisiting our letter/sound relationships,

revising the vowels and consonants,

and reviewing some common consonant digraphs -

sh, ch, wh and th.

Reading and writing 'tricky' words has also been a focus.

'Tricky' words are those ones that we can't sound out - we just have to learn how to read and write them. Our 'tricky' word tree is proving very helpful!

Look forward to seeing you at Parent Teacher Interviews next week

(unless we have already met!).

If you haven't had a chance to book in yet, there are still some timeslots that are available.  Don't forget we are having an early finish on Tuesday to allow for the interviews.

Please collect students at 1pm.

We have all worked hard during this term, learning lots, building friendships and

taking positive actions to look after our environment.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy break!
