Primary School News

Mr Liam Beatty, Head of Primary School

Dear Primary Families,

When we finished our first semester together in June, I reminded the Primary students of the importance of being 100% Marist, 100% of the time. This mantra resonates strongly with the boys. It also enables us, as educators and parents, to challenge the boys to do their best and be their best both at home and at school. This term I invite you to use this saying with your son at home to remind them of the strong partnership between our home and school expectations.

As you would be aware, our Marist Spirituality has five distinct characteristics or pillars. These pillars are visible in our Primary walkway and provide a continuous reminder to our boys of the characteristics lived out by St Marcellin Champagnat and taught by Jesus. Throughout Term 3, all members of the Primary community will focus specifically on one of the characteristics each fortnight. This week, we will focus on Love of Work.

We know that St Marcellin was a man of work and action, known as someone always willing to roll up his sleeves. We follow his example in being generous of heart and constant and persevering in our daily work and the efforts we undertake for our own ongoing learning. As we began our term this morning, the boys were asked to reflect on how would demonstrate this characteristic this term. I look forward to getting around to classes and speaking to the boys about their learning goals and seeing their Love of Work in action.

Semester 1 Reports

I trust that you have all taken the time to review your son’s Semester 1 Academic Report and assessments. I hope the detail provided by his teachers in the report and the specific feedback provided on LMS has allowed you to have a conversation with him about his learning and to set some goals for the term ahead.

All Student Assessment is published and managed in Student Café and visible to Parents in Parent Lounge. On the left hand menu click on Curricular Activities Due or go to Student Details/Curricular Activities.

This will allow you to see:

  • Assessment items and due dates;
  • Draft and Final File submissions; and
  • Draft Feedback and Final Marks from Teachers.

Click on the Activity Name to access the Assessment details.

Year 5 Student Support Meetings

An email was sent to some families yesterday regarding booking Student Support Meetings for Term 3. If you did not receive this email, you do not need to access the booking system or book a time.

Good Luck

Best wishes to our Primary boys who are representing the College in debating, rugby league, tennis and basketball this week.
