PERFORMING ARTS

Our dedicated group of 16 Mass Dancers and 20 Mass Choir students have been practicing hard for this year's Victorian State School Spectacular. Learning many songs and dances, they have been rehearsing each week at school and spending many hours at home, learning all they need to know to participate in the 3-hour extravaganza. Next term they will continue their rehearsals including the big day in Melbourne on the 10th of September.

The 2022 show "We're Ready Together Again!" will be held at Hisense Arena in Melbourne to an audience of 10,000 people. For those interested in coming along to see this year's show, tickets can be purchased through Ticketek LINK

EXTENDED SCHOOL DAY

Thank you to all the families who participated in the Term 2 Extended School Day. It was wonderful to see so many students taking the opportunity to learn new skills and work alongside other students in our college. With a variety of 30 different programs on offer, it was wonderful to have the Extended School Day back and running for a full term 2. The Term 3 program will come out on the first day back next term . It will be another 6-week program beginning in week 3, with many new programs as well as some old favourites.

IMPACT

Our first Year 7/8 Impact program is coming to a close as semester one ends. Watching the students grow in confidence and develop their skills has been a privilege and they all should be congratulated. Over this semester they have learnt new skills and developed expertise in Bollywood Dancing, Puppet making, water colour painting, drama, shoe designing, rap writing and Tech support.

This Wednesday the students will celebrate their achievements with families and staff in a special presentation.

Thank you Bunnings

Over Easter Bunnings ran a competition for young artists to do a piece of work which would then hang in the store where customers and staff could vote for their favourite piece.

Our Year 10 Impact group took up the challenge and sent in pieces. There was a cash prize for the winner and a donation to the winners school.

3 of the 4 winners came from the college Impact entries and each winner received a Bunnings voucher. In addition the Impact program was given a lovely donation to help the student further their interests in all aspects of the Arts.

This picture shows the 3 winners and some of the other contributors.

Thank you Bunnings and students!

SEED at The Hanger

What an unbelievable experience for SEED students last week. A day trip to the Essendon Football Club Hanger put massive smiles on the students faces.

All of the Essendon players & staff members were so friendly & approachable. To witness a full training session including warm-up, skills & cool down was beneficial for the students.

But the smiles when each student received a bombers jumper signed by the players, was priceless.

Miniroos

The collective effort of NBC staff  Barb Barry, Moo Thay Blue and Chris King have been instrumental in making access to community sport a reality for some NBC

students.  Membership to local clubs often is out of reach to students and their families, however the wish materialised for eight grateful NBC students.  This outcome had many wins along the way for a range of students from NBC with Year 1 & 2 students attending an after school soccer clinic, a couple of VCAL students being paid to assist to coach at the clinic and the college receiving enough junior soccer equipment that has been distributed amongst all junior campuses.
