Faith at St Joseph's...

This Wednesday night the school has organised a Year 6 Community Dinner to provide a time for parents and students to come together. The Year 6 students have a theme of 'Being of Service to others'. The dinner will highlight the inspiring ways all of our students can use the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit in their daily lives. This is a wonderful opportunity to build a sense of inclusion, belonging and connection within our Year 6 community.

There are a group of Year 6 students who will start their preparation for making their Confirmation next term.  At the dinner they will be supported by their parents in making a commitment to learning more about the Sacrament of Confirmation.

At Confirmation, we are strengthened in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gives us the grace to help our faith to grow.  We are challenged to live as true followers of Jesus.

The Holy Spirit gives us gifts for our life. Gifts of wisdom, understanding, right judgement, courage, knowledge, reverence and wonder and awe.  These are character strengths that will assist the children in becoming a strong member of the community as they get ready to move onto Secondary school next year.

As a Christian community, we witness and recognise the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit alive and working within us throughout our life’s journey. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit, given to us in Baptism, enable us to live a good life. At Confirmation, we accept these gifts and are challenged to develop them. The evidence of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit can be seen in the ways we grow in the life of Jesus.

The Prayer slideshow this week focuses on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
