Western United League Trophy

On Tuesday 14 June, students were treated to an opportunity to take photos with the A-League Trophy after Western United won the Championship in 2022. It was a great experience for all involved.

HSSC Basketball and Badminton Leagues

After a stupendous effort from both our students and staff, we were able to organise Homestead’s first Badminton League that ran during lunch times for students to take part in and compete against their rival houses. This League was organised due to a huge interest for badminton across the whole school. We had around 50 students participate from across all year levels.

Homestead’s Badminton league was a huge success for the college community. This League allowed a healthy and friendly competition between peers to face off against each other and stimulate house spirit. All houses performed well and worked as hard as they could to gain points. It was a neck-to-neck competition between Darwin and Harcourt however, Darwin took the lead and came in 1st position with a total of 11 wins. Well done Darwin house! I’d like to thank all students and staff for being supportive and helpful during throughout the league.

-Khushi Patel (Year 11)

After a monumental effort from our students and staff, we’ve been able to start our inaugural Homestead Basketball League (HBL); where houses face off against each other, in order to crown the winning house with our very first HBL cup, draped in their colours. We’ve finished the round robin stages with Gillard taking out the No 1 seed, finishing unbeaten in the group stages. With only the semi finals and the finals remaining, the rivalries are heating up, and the pressure is on for all the participants, on their path to glory.

Homestead’s inaugural basketball league has been a huge success for our school community. It has provided a friendly battleground for houses to face off against each other, promoting the house spirit and values we represent. I’d like to thank all students and teachers for supporting the league in numerous ways leading up to our main event next term. I wish every house good luck in their quest to win, and may the best be crowned champions. The semi final pairings are below:

Year 10 Outdoor Education & PE

Our Year 10 PE students joined in with Year 10 Fitness students and participated in High Intensity Interval Training, ball skills and a very competitive game of dodge ball. Our Year 10 Outdoor Education students practiced their ball and frisbee skills and became avid shipwreck competitors. All students managed to successfully pitch tents in extreme weather conditions (Point Cook wind was in full force). Congratulations to Elle Harding and Leah Delimitros who were able to do it in the fasted time- excellent teamwork girls!
