Industry Tours for Lalor North Secondary College students

Our students have been offered the fantastic opportunity to visit industries and learn about career options!!

We are very grateful to Christine Panagiotou from the Hume Whittlesea LLEN for arranging these tours.

Advantage Caravans - Campbellfield

On the 26th of May, interested students were invited to attend an Industry Tour and Immersion Workshop with Advantage Caravans in Campbellfield.

The caravan industry is an area of demand and covers career areas such as Electrical, Plumbing, Auto-electrical, Carpentry, Modification and accessory installers, Fiberglass, Panel painting, Construction and Manufacturing.

Students were able to get up close to watch tradespeople in action, repairing and renovating a variety of different caravans, and had the opportunity to ask questions.

There was a presentation by the owner and a young school leaver who is carving out a very promising career for himself within the industry.

The caravan manufacturing and repair & maintenance industry is rapidly growing, and there are many opportunities for long-term careers. Cert III in Recreational Vehicle Service and Repair is a new apprenticeship qualification which students are encouraged to consider as a career.

Students really enjoyed the day!  A big thank you to Mrs Cerritelli for supervising and driving the minibus.

Toyota - South Morang

On Tuesday 14th June, students interested in the automotive industry were invited to attend an industry immersion tour at Toyota.

We saw shiny new cars on display as well as looking through the workshop out the back where different makes and models were being worked on and repaired.

Shane, the Workshop Controller showed our students around… we looked under bonnets, sat in the driver’s seat for a photo, saw cars up on hoists, and Shane even revved up his own car for students to see.

He answered multiple questions from eager students, including questions about the engineering involved in the manufacturing of cars.

Thank you to Joel,  the Service Manager and Shane, the Workshop controller for giving us their valuable time and providing our students with this fantastic opportunity!

We’ve hopefully sparked the interest of students to become Automotive Technicians, Engineers and Car Designers!

Thank you to Mr Tucker who supervised and drove the minibus.
