Career Networking for Young People

We have such great opportunities for our students to connect with career networks who can support them with their post-school choices!

Our year 11 and 12 VCAL students attended a Career Expo on the 9th of June, at the Uni Hill Conference Centre.

The day started with students listening to a presentation from a member of the Australian Defence Force, who provided interesting information on his own background and experience as well as the many fantastic career paths available to young people.

Kim Stadtmiller, the Executive Office at the Hume Whittlesea Local Learning and Employment Network (HWLLEN) also presented to students about choices they will need to make in the near future and the resources available to help them with their choices at the expo.

Students were then led into the Expo, where representatives from tertiary providers, including universities, TAFEs, RTO, Apprenticeship and Traineeship groups, local government, businesses, and services had stalls for students to visit with opportunities to gain information and ask questions.

Belinda from A Grade Resumes also provided a short session with advice on what makes a great resume.

Students were very engaged with collecting brochures and asking questions to the many stall holders – many wished we had more time! Students who collected stickers from at least 5 stalls were entered into a competition.

Thank you to Ms Cerritelli for supervising the excursion and to Ms Kathy Boca for coming along to assist!
