Brainfood Challenge Results
The Brainfood Challenge was a great success! Over the three week period students have been munching madly on vegetables during the school day and managed to eat over
3700 serves! What a fantastic effort by all. The results were collected and averaged out to account for the different numbers of students in each grade. Each class teacher then chose a winner; someone who consistently ate vegetables during the challenge (see below). However, 1A was our overall winner!
On Monday 20th June, the students in 1A thoroughly enjoyed their major prize of Bike 'n Blend. They chose the flavour of their smoothie and pedalled madly to blend all the ingredients together. The flavours available were Mango Speed (pineapple juice, banana and frozen mango), Mixed Berry Breakfast (milk, banana, frozen berries and strawberry yoghurt) and Mrs Mac's Gym Juice (apple juice, orange, frozen mango and spinach leaves). All of them were delicious and very healthy! Our aim in creating this challenge was to encourage students to include more vegetables in their diet during the school day. We are hoping this will continue.
I would like to acknowledge and thank Belinda Vaughan and Sarah Murphy from EACH who have worked closely with Rowville Primary School to promote an environment that supports students, teachers and families to eat more fruit and vegetables. Their support over the past three years has been invaluable and has had a positive impact on the school.
