Year 4 OLA Projects

From Ella J, Year 4 D

On Monday 20 June, Year 4 got together and presented their OLA (Other Learning Areas) projects. So, what were the OLA projects? We were learning about climate change and how humans have impacted the increased occurrence and severity of natural disasters like floods and bush fires.

Our problem was to design something that would help with reducing the impacts humans are having on the climate and environment. Our design brief had to identify a problem in the environment that we would like to solve. We then had to design something to solve that problem and evaluate and reflect on our design’s ability to help the environment and/or the community.

With our magnificent minds, we made creative designs, like a hanging waterfall, a flood dome, a magnetic ball that hangs off a boat to pick up rubbish, and way more. Check out some of our design briefs in this story.

Maybe you could be like Greta Thunberg, a climate change activist. You don’t have to be big to make a change, the world needs us all!
