Changes to Parking

As we have shared throughout the term, City of Melbourne is making changes to parking on Murphy Street and Harcourt Street. This will help to address ongoing safety concerns and issues that parents raised in the Driving to School survey in March.

Commencing in Term 3 changes will include:

  • Disability permit bays
    • Murphy Street: relocated and lengthened
    • Harcourt Street: lengthened and curb access ramp added
  • New Drop Off & Pick Up Zones (Marked bright pink and enforced)
    • 4 bays on Murphy Street (near Garden Gate)
    • 7 new bays on Harcourt Street (near Flex Gate)
  • 1/4P short stay
    • 10 bays on Harcourt Street (near Reception Gate)
    • 2 bays in front of Biz-e-Kidz (end of Murphy Street)

About the Drop Off & Pick Up Zones

From the first day of Term 3 new bright pink Drop Off & Pick Up Zones will be in place on Harcourt Street (7 spaces) and Murphy Street (4 spaces). Installation of these zones was delayed this term due to council community consultation requirements.)

These zones will be supervised by staff and enforced by City of Melbourne parking officers. The image below explains how to use the zones; your child will also bring home a flyer about these changes. You cannot park and leave your car in the pink Drop Off & Pick Up zones.

Staff will ensure children arriving go safely into school to their classroom. Staff will also wait for students to be picked up in the afternoon.

If you want to walk your child to or from the gate or classroom please park in a street further away from school and enjoy a walk together.

We continue to encourage families to walk, scoot or ride to school whenever possible.

NMPS has worked with the City of Melbourne to install these zones to reduce traffic congestion and make it safer for everyone travelling to school.
