Our ‘Around the World’ Fete needs you!

Planning is well underway for our ‘Around the World’ school fete, which will be held on  Friday 4 November from 4-8 pm on the school grounds.  The fete is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, have a lot of fun, and raise valuable funds for our school.  There will be rides, games, food stalls, a silent auction, musical and dance entertainment, plus much, much more.

The ‘Around the World’ theme provides a brilliant opportunity to showcase the many cultures and backgrounds that make up our wonderfully diverse school community.  We invite you to bring your ideas, skills, and connections to shape our fete.   There are lots of different ways that you can be involved, and every contribution is very welcome and appreciated.  

Food

Our recently formed Food Sub-Committee will meet soon with members who are connected to our Indian, Japanese, Chinese, European, and African communities. We can’t wait to see what delicious food will be on offer at the fete.  If you own or are connected to a food/drink business, or are a passionate home cook, we want to hear from you!

Fete food stalls - family food businesses & support

Does your family run a food-related business or restaurant that might be interested in supporting or running a food stall at our fete on Friday 4 November? Our fete food stall committee is keen to hear from you!  Our diverse NMPS community means we enjoy a great variety of tasty food that we could share with others and have on sale at the fete. 

Ways your food-related business or restaurant could help include:

• Running a food stall at the fete (providing food at cost)
   
• Donating food preparation and storage equipment for use at the fete (eg bain-marie to store hot food to serve)
   
• Donating food/beverages for sale by NMPS 

We are also interested in other people organising and running food stalls. If you have an idea and can get together a group to help you prepare and serve food, we would love to include your stall in the fete. We will help you with the food safety and handling rules that we will need to comply with.

At past fetes, we've had tasty food from many cuisines, including Indian, African, Indonesian, Middle Eastern, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, and more! The fete is on Friday 4 November after school until 8pm. People will be keen to eat dinner so we need a number of food stalls. We also plan to have a variety of sweet treats and hot and cold drinks.

Rides

Work is also underway to determine the rides that will provide hours of entertainment for our kids… and some of the adults.  A wonderful NMPS family has taken this on this important investigative task and recent dinner conversations in that home have revolved around the merits of the eliminator, big slide, chair-o-plane, and petting zoo.  Watch this space and all will be revealed in due course!

While we’ve made a great start, there’s still plenty left to do and we invite you to grasp this wonderful opportunity to join with like-minded people and be part of the team working towards the success of our fete this year.   

Volunteer

Not sure how you can assist?  That’s ok, just let us know you are keen, and we’ll help you find a place you can thrive.

The fete is coordinated by the NMPS Parents and Friends Association and our next meeting will be held in ‘The Aquarium’ next to the school office on Tuesdays at 7.30 pm.  All are welcome.  You can also always get in touch with questions, ideas, and offers of assistance at community@nmps.fun.
