From the Kitchen

From Erin & Kristen, Kitchen Specialist Team

In the final weeks of cooking for Term 2, Year 6 students made their own Warrigal Greens pasta, served with a tomato sauce. Pasta is a favourite with students, so preparing the dough, rolling it out and boiling their own hand creation was a great achievement and new experience for many students.

We saw tomato sauce grins in every class. Warrigal Greens is an Indigenous plant very similar to baby spinach. We have it growing abundantly in our garden, and apart from a delicious addition to our handmade pasta we could support National Reconciliation Week - Be Brave Make Change.

Following pasta week Year 6 made scrumptious roasted Butternut pumpkin, sage and chickpea rolls served with a tomato chutney - delicious on the cold wet days we experienced in that week.

To complete cooking this term and before heading off to camp, Year 6 prepared zucchini muffins piped with a cream cheese icing.  The Kitchen Specialist staff have thoroughly enjoyed our last term of cooking with you all. We hope that you have learnt a lot of new skills and tasted many new foods. Keep cooking with your families at home.

We also would like to thank our wonderful parent volunteers this term. We hope that you enjoyed the cooking sessions, and we appreciate your support in the kitchen.
