School Council
Kii TPS Community,
I would like to introduce myself, I’m Michael and I am your new School Council President. I’m a parent with two children in grade 1 and grade 3, I am excited to work collaboratively to ensure that the council is well-informed and responsive to the needs of the school.
I would first like to thank Bianca for her contribution as President for the first half of this year. Bianca has had to step away from council for personal reasons and we are really sad to see her go but glad for her contributions while we had her.
I would also like to welcome Michelle Harmer and Sonja Dechian. Michelle has taken up the parent vacancy created by Bianca leaving and is very active in the school community including chairing the Masterplan and Grounds subcommittee. Sonja will fill one of the two community positions on council and is a Steiner parent and we are pleased to have more voices being represented on council. There is still one community vacancy so please get in touch if you or someone you know is interested.
Recently we endorsed the school Asset Management Plan to be provided to the Victorian School Building Authority. It sounds mundane (your thinking which walls need repainting), but is in fact a statement of the vision and outcomes we want the school facilities to support and is a key step towards the planning and design of the promised major modernisation of the school. We also endorsed allocating $8,000 of fundraising money towards classroom literacy resources, combined with the $8,000 from the regular budget this will allow purchase of resources for all year levels.
Going forward a renewed area of focus is reinvigorating the Social Committee. Social committee is the key to being able to bring the community together and the heart of our fundraising activities. We are looking anyone who want to help out in planning and coordinating our social events, and also keen to hear from people who may have ideas or can contribute in different ways. We would still love to hold a larger event like the trivia night and if we work together I’m sure we can achieve something great.
