Specialist Classes

ART

The last few weeks in Art have been all about collage. Foundation students had lots of fun creating their own self portrait and learning collage skills. Grade 1/2s have been working on their animal collages and grade 3-6 students have been planning and creating their Pete Cromer inspired alphabet animals. We can’t wait to show them when they are all finished.

SPORT

In sport we have continued our athletics unit. The 5/6'ers put up a massive effort at long jump, triple jump and high jump. In high jump it was fantastic to see all attempting the jump and most exceeding their own expectations learning the Fosbury flop . It was such a fun class with everyone participating and giving their all to the jumps. Our junior school focused on sprints and relays. As always, every team cheered on their running members to take home the glory of the relays. Fantastic effort all round from our junior school.

Next week, Thursday 10th August, the Senior school students will be attending Waranga Athletics. Good luck Sporty Paddys, not that you'll need it!

STEM

In this lesson, the Foundation students enjoyed playing snakes and ladders using the much loved Bee Bots from Term 1, to revisit the importance of staying safe online. When they landed on one of the statements on the Bee-Bot mat, lots of discussion was had about what they

understood and how they could keep safe when using technology. Some of the key messages covered were:

I know what my personal information is and I keep it private.

I know that something I put online can be seen by others.

I know that not all information online is true.

I select apps, games and websites that a trusted adult gives me.

I use different technologies, with a trusted adult, to communicate responsibly with others.

I need to be careful about the icons I click or tap when I use technology devices.

I use devices for the time I am allowed.

I must tell a trusted adult when something worrying or unexpected happens when I am using a device.
