Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

What an exciting two weeks it has been since our last newsletter.  The colour-run was a fun way to raise money for our upcoming school production and thankfully on our second attempt the weather was just perfect for this time of year. The amount raised was fantastic and will go towards the costs of the production and assist in keeping ticket prices down. Tickets, which will go on sale tomorrow, will be $10 per adult and $5 per child, and of course students enrolled at Mackellar attend for free.

The musical items for the production reflect what students are learning in the classrooms right now, and are a wonderful way to bring our community together. If you haven't done so yet, please be sure to purchase a black skivvy for your child as this is the basis for their costume and all students are expected to be a part of the production. If purchasing this item is difficult due to financial hardship, please contact the office for assistance.

Whilst NAIDOC week was a little earlier this term, last week we were privilidged to have two local Aboriginal performers come to the school and lead our students through an Aboriginal Cultural experience for a day. Students explored song, dance, musical instruments, storytelling and a large degree of information sharing and enrichment throughout the session. The program was very well received by all students, in particular by our Koorie students who also experienced a small group workshop designed especially for them.

To all staff and parents involved in planning, volunteering and running this myriad of exciting events - thank you for all your hard work.

Kind Regards,

Simon McGlade

Principal
