This week in Reading, we are learning how to summarize a nonfiction text, by identifying the main ideas. 

VOCABULARY

Summarizing - telling the most important parts of a text, in your own words, in a much shorter way.

Key Information - important pieces of information that support the main idea of a text.

Non - fiction - a real text, not a story.

After reading a non-fiction text, ask your child to summarise the main idea with supporting facts.
