KUTA-KAYA

Kuta-Kaya have had a really busy start to 2022, both in and out of the classroom. In Kuta-kaya we have transitioned over to the Canvas platform for our learning which has been an interesting process for both teachers and students!

Our faculty History unit this term is all about Ancient Egypt! We have been learning about the customs and way of life this ancient society. Did you know that The afterlife was incredibly important to the Egyptians. They believed that by preserving a dead person’s body – which they did through the process of mummification – their soul would live on in the afterlife forever!

Every lunch break we have an awesome group of students grab a handball and have a friendly (Sometimes competitive) game on the concrete courts just outside of Kuta-Kaya. We would love to have more students join us! We welcome all students of all handball abilities to come and play a game with us.

Our Senior Class – Warikal have started up the “Warikal Café”. This café is for senior students and staff. Every Tuesday Morning between 8:30am – 10:40am, students work together to make you a hot beverage or even a sneaky snack – Slice, cookies or even a toasted sandwich! This helps out students to work towards developing their work readiness skills.

Our Year 9 students across the faculty are so stoked to finally be able to go going to electives! We have students attending, art, food technology, Metal, timber, the list go on! Our year 9 students have been loving this opportunity to get out of the faculty and integrate into other subjects.

We have our Pintu, Marin and Kawul class smashing their Community Access Day with cooking a range of different foods, toasted sandwiches, sushi, pizza, sausages. The common theme is lots of yummy food.

Kukaparr have enjoyed working with Miss Smith on a range of different science experiments and STEM tasks. Check out the video of the latest task of a Marble maze!

Wuwing have been working towards getting their “Wuwing is here to help” service up and running. Students have been completing errands and jobs around the school to support the development of work readiness skills. Wuwing would love any of your jobs! Washing, Ironing, laminating, shredding, cleaning, sorting, no job is too big! If you’re interested in taking us up on the offer, contact the faculty to organise with us!
