PUBLIC SPEAKING

Legacy Junior Public Speaking

Our Junior Public Speaking contestants Tara Pringle, Nikko Riazi, Aidan Hurst and Aaron Korczak-Krzeczowski presented five minute speeches demonstrating the ideals of Legacy and a two minute impromptu speech on the topic, "Is handwriting a relic of the past?"

Amongst a field of 16 students from other Independent, Catholic and High Schools our students competed at a high standard.  We are thrilled that Aidan Hurst won on the day. Aidan also won the Legacy Junior Public Speaking semi final. He now progresses to the State Final where Victoria's best Junior speakers meet to compete. He delivered an outstanding speech on the topic of "Values Revolution" and an impromptu speech on the topic of "Goals are Good for us".

Students debated two resolutions on Water Security and Surveillance and one secret topic resolution on the day.

Debating Association Victoria

Term 3 saw the final round of DAV debating. Students in years 7 to 11 have enjoyed the camaraderie and challenge of debating against other schools in the largest English language debating competition in the world.   Congratulations to all of our teams who enjoyed many wins and close defeats. All improved their communication, confidence and persuasive speaking skills.
