OUR LADY’s 16 Days of Activism

Educate, Empower, Enable

Nov 25th-Dec 10th

OLHC’s 16 Days of Activism is here.

Over the next 2 weeks the playing spaces will look quite different at recess and lunch times. All the children may play in any play space with any friends in any year level. This will give all children the opportunity to mix with year levels, family groups and Buddies. The Prep playground will be the only exclusive space for just Prep children.

With a $500 grant from Nillumbik Council there will be more equipment for the sandpits, indoor games -Twister,  Large Snakes and Ladders, Large sets of Checkers to be shared during extra passive play sessions in the Community Centre over these 2 weeks.

Classroom learning and conversations will continue to educate, empower and enable all children to respect one another for who they are. Our wonderful selection of new books will be borrowed by class groups to read and discover themes with gender inclusive stories, what you can achieve as you grow up, fair and friendly play and ‘calling it out’ if something is not right.

Our Wellbeing Leaders Sam and Ally will share more about this project at assembly on Monday.

SWELL ART returns thanks to Jen and Faith.

It has been a long wait for Groups 6-9 to have their special SWELL Art session with Jen and Faith. Group 6 & 7 finally enjoyed their lesson after many months of no Art sessions in our Art room. And the focus…..Air dried clay Christmas decorations using a variety of decorative techniques.

The children attended in multi-age groups to create some fine pieces as they used lavender, leaves and stamps to decorate their clay mould, ready to have ribbon attached and then to be hung on Christmas trees or special places around the home.

Many thanks to Jen and Faith who will be back in 2 weeks time for Groups 8 & 9.

It is fabulous to be able to have these opportunities start up again even with only a few weeks to go until the school year is over. Hopefully the opportunity to run similar activities next year will be made possible. If you would like to offer your ideas, skills or support please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Best wishes
