VCE Early Commencement

Over the past two weeks, our 2022 VCE cohort participated in our Early Commencement Program. This involved attending a full timetable of their classes and beginning Unit 1 and 3 content in preparation for next year.

Prior to this, our Year 12 VCE cohort participated in a full day incursion where they were able to reflect on their progress and set goals for their final year of schooling. Students also worked collaboratively in teams to brainstorm what a successful VCE student looks like. We also were fortunate enough to hear from an experienced guest presenter from Elevate Education who provided tips and strategies around studying, time management and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

When students were asked, “what was the most important thing you learned today?” some of the responses were:

· How to plan my week out so I know what I’m doing ahead of time

· How to manage procrastination and prioritise my time wisely

· To get more sleep and balance school and home life

· I learnt that more time studying doesn’t always mean effective studying

· How to get things done quicker by breaking tasks down

· Implementing a study “guide” instead of a study timetable

· How to make an efficient study group

Overall, we had a fantastic two week program with our new VCE cohort. The highlight was definitely seeing our Year 12s wearing their new jackets with pride (even in 30 degree heat!). We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable school holiday period and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2022.
