To our Parents and Friends of Kinross Wolaroi

With 2021 drawing to a close, I imagine that like me, many of you are hoping we will be able to experience and enjoy a more ‘normal’ school year in 2022. There has been an enormous effort by many over the past two years to keep the critical school activities going and an amazing display of determination and agility to make the most of what we could do rather than lament what we couldn’t.  

What became clear to me was that I really missed the benefits of our parent networks and the friendships that are born from running into others at school events and being part of our year networks. I also missed the enjoyment of being physically able support the school’s activities and continued growth.   

There are likely to be Kinross Wolaroi families who have been at the school for two years, have had children boarding or are new to Orange who have missed out on these opportunities to meet others in their year groups and to get involved in the school network and activities. 

The P&F is looking for involvement from two parents from each year to sign up as Year Representatives for next year. The Year Group Representatives role is to facilitate the organisation and promotion of a couple of simple get-togethers during the year for the parents of your Year Group. Rep's are also invited to bring new ideas to the P&F and bring the voice of their year group to our meetings as or if the need arises. 

We have some great people already on board for these roles but we need more to make it more fun - in particular I would encourage some of the Dads to get involved. We especially need parents in Years 10-12 to join in – often it’s harder for new families in these years to meet people as the kids are more independent but the parent activations and networks are still extremely relevant and important in the senior years for both boarders and day students.
