From the Chaplain

Rev. Dr Rosalie Clarke

Greetings to all

Christmas is almost here. I keep reminding myself that I need to make plans for Christmas presents - but this hasn’t moved on from being an intermittent idea yet!

When my children were young, one of my closer – and more organized friends – would help me every year by looking after my children for a morning while I rushed around Macquarie Centre getting organized. I do miss those days, when the spirit of Christmas came alive in the wonder of little children. Of course, like any other significant day, Christmas can also prompt memories which cause sadness and discomfort.

All of this joy and sadness is life.

This year, Kinross Wolaroi School and Pulse (the youth and family ministry of the Uniting Church) have partnered to run an Online Kids Club for the four Sundays of Advent. We are particularly looking to connect with children in Years 3-6 who are living remotely and have little chance to connect with church community around the Christmas story. Our vision is to have fun, learn and build connections for these children in a safe online space. A few current Year 8 KWS students will develop their leadership skills and act as mentors to these children during the duration.

If you know of any children who you think would enjoy something like this – please contact either me RClarke@kws.nsw.edu.au or Yvonne at https://waggaunitingchurch.org/events/okc-christmas-craz-e/ It starts on Sunday 5 December from 2 – 3 pm.

In the meantime, I pray that you are able to find some of your own quiet time to reflect on 2021, and to prepare yourselves for this special holiday.

God bless,

Rosalie
