Upper Junior PMP

In Upper Junior, we are thrilled to have started our PMP sessions with our Physio team and Living Sciences classes with Iroshi.

Our new PMP room is big and brightly lit by natural light streaming through wall-to-wall windows. On the other end of the room, floor-to-ceiling mirrors add depth and allow students to watch themselves as they climb, balance and make their way through a fun and challenging obstacle course. Iroshi had also transformed one of our rooms at the back of our school, filling it with things of wonder, from kaleidoscopes to skeletons. What a great place to nurture and grow curiosity and a love of science!

Transitioning to these wonderful new spaces from our classrooms meant our students also have been learning about our school values of being safe and responsible.  In the classroom, we discussed what staying in our group looks like and why it is important.  We practised staying together as we walked around our school grounds and it was great seeing our students demonstrating these values so well on the day of their lessons.

News from Lower Junior

Hello all,

As a section Lower Junior have settled into the school year and all students have been enjoying the exciting programs available to them! All classes have been lucky enough to have Tully, the therapy dog, come to visit them on a Friday. Students are learning how to interact appropriately with Tully and will have opportunities to read stories to her or even brush her teeth later in the term!

Physical Education will be running fortnightly on a Friday and students were very responsible in following the instructions and completing the obstacle course in their first session.

In English our focus has been on fiction which ties into our 'This is me' theme. Students read the book 'Whoever you are' by Mem Fox. We then looked at their similarities and differences and discussed their good qualities before completing an activity.

We look forward to heading back to school and continuing our learning soon 😀

Thanks,

The Lower Junior Team

Lower Secondary

The Lower Secondary section is off to a flying start.  We have welcomed a whole new entourage of students who graduated from the Middles section last year. We also welcomed some new students to Yarrabah school.  We are enjoying making new friends and exploring our new school environment and what it is has to offer.  Assembly has given students the opportunity to come together each Friday afternoon to celebrate their achievements for the week and share news and stories.
