Year 11 Chemistry students toured The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) to enhance their understanding of nuclear science and technology as part of their current Depth Study. Students were treated to a behind the scenes tour of Australia's largest scientific infrastructure, including the OPAL multipurpose reactor. Future STEM careers were discussed, research areas and practical demonstrations were all part of experience. Students were amazed at the latest uses of nuclear research techniques to address many of the important issues of our time relating to health, the environment and nuclear fuel cycle. A great experience was had by all.

On the 23rd of March, Year 9 participated in fun filled morning run by World of Maths: a presentation of fun and educational, hands-on, problem solving activities. We got together in groups to complete stimulating and engaging activities all based on the concepts of everyday Maths. The activities challenged our problem-solving techniques and brought a new perspective to the usefulness of Maths in everyday life. It opened up new ideas and continued to work our developing brains in different ways. We appreciate the effort that went into organizing and setting up this incursion and I think I speak for all of year 9 when I say this is something we would enjoy doing again.
We thank Ms Burgess and Rebecca from World of Maths for making this morning possible.
by Isabella Rossi, Year 9.
All of Year 7 were involved in team building activities ranging from building the tallest tower out of spaghetti and marshmallows to creating the fanciest wedding dress out of newspaper. Students also competed in group sporting activities such as captain ball and set up their own stalls with a range of activities such as bracelet making and a balloon design competition. It was a very successful and fun day, the students were highly engaged and demonstrated strong team and leadership skills throughout the day. Well done Year 7!
Yr 7 STEM day is an annual event organised by the Science Faculty, which is a fun day where students participate in a variety of Science experiments, with both an educational and egg based theme. The students enjoyed a fun learning experience with a range of activities such as Egg Blow, Egg Mobile, Daredevil Egg, Why Is It So? and Egg Volcano. The fun did not stop there, with students having loads of fun racing around with an Easter egg hunt to end the day on a 'sugar high'. Students were also encouraged to enter an Egg Decorating Competition, with some amazing efforts made by all students. Prizes were given to all entrants. Overall it was an extremely Eggciting and Eggcellent day that was had by all.
