Winner of the Lucky Dip book review competition
Congratulations Lucy Baker (8F) for her review of Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer.
Also a big thank you to all the book review contributors this year. We had a very strong field to choose from which made it difficult for the Judges. All the book reviews have been published on the John Cain Library web catalogue.
The lucky dip book review was designed to encourage students to choose a mystery book (wrapped in paper) from the library desk, write an informative review and post it on our library web catalogue, by the deadline.
The benefits of taking part in this challenge were:
- To encourage students to read fiction outside their usual choices, by trying a different author or genre
- To commit to the challenge by reading the book, thinking critically about it, and writing a review
- To write a review that was informative and would assist other students to choose titles that are age and content appropriate.
- To share their review online by posting it on the library web catalogue, creating an online book review community for students to share their thoughts and views on the books they have read.
- To meet the deadline of the 24 August to be part of the competition.
Extended book loan period for holiday reading
The loan period for print resources has been extended over the term break. Any books borrowed on or after the 10th September will be due on the 8th October, the first week of term 4. You have time to choose some great books to take on holidays and remember to return all the books you no longer need by the end of term 3, so others can have access to them.
