Bandicoot research at the Zoo

The year 12 environmental science class recently had the opportunity to collect data at the Werribee Zoo to help in their captive breeding program of Eastern Barred Bandicoots, as species which is extinct in the wild in Victoria. The data collected is pooled with other schools and will help them to determine whether a predatory proof area at the Zoo is ready to release a captive bred population into. As part of the day, the students also got to meet some orphaned koalas munching on their breakfast and go on safari.

Year 10 Sport Coaching

Over the last week we had Courtney from the AFL Umpiring School Academy come in to teach the year 10 sports coaching class how to umpire Australian Rules Football. She taught us the different signals and what to call out while umpiring. Some examples are holding the ball, trip, holding the man and high tackle as well as many more. We had a fun time and even got to use some of these signals in a game for our last lesson. Overall learning this has made some of the girls as well as myself keen to umpire outside of school.

Year 7 Food Tech

As part of year 7 Food Technology students participated in the cupcake design task. Students worked in pairs through the design cycle to investigate, design and produce their own cupcake designs. Look out MasterChef!
