Principal's Message

2022 Enrolments

If you have a child who will commence Prep in 2022 please contact the Office as soon as possible to obtain an enrolment form. We have a large number of prospective parents who are trying to secure a place in our school. It would be extremely helpful to our planning if you could assist us in this matter.

The next school tour is Monday 22nd March between 4-5pm.  Bookings are essential as all previous tours have been booked out.

Parent Group

At Monday night's School Council meeting we discussed the possibility of establishing a parent group to help us in our fundraising efforts. Maybe there are a number of parents in our community who could spare a little time to meet ( and of course have a coffee!) and then work together to help us with this vital component.

Schools have limited financial resources and if we are to continue to provide additional resources and activities for our students we need to fundraise.

We invite  parents or community members who could spare some time and would like to contribute to our first get together on Tuesday 27th April at 2.30pm.

Please contact Sandy in the office to confirm your attendance. We would love to get this group "Up and Running" as it is really important the  school and the community work together for the betterment of all our students.

Curriculum Day

Many thanks to our community of parents for supporting our recent Curriculum Day. I know it is difficult to organise for students to be minded on these days. We try, where possible, to organise these days to follow or precede a long weekend as many of our families may have a rostered day off .

Please be mindful that these days are approved by School Council and are part of the latest Union Agreement.

I would like to sincerely thank Daniel Chittenden, Monique Dumont, Hayley Baxter and Paul Cornell for organising and presenting on this day. Staff were very motivated to trial the "Talk for Writing" and I can see that it will further enrich our already great writing program.

Dogs In the School

A reminder to parents and community members that no dogs (Registered therapy dogs exception) are allowed in the school grounds.

Please do not bring your pet inside the school gates if you walk the dog to collect your child from school.

We have noticed on the security cameras that there are members of the community allowing their dogs on the oval area. This often results in us having to clean up "doggie outputs!" and at times the tearing around playing games is unsettling the synthetic turf.

We want to keep our school oval in "top nick" so that our students can enjoy this great facility. Thanks everyone.

Congratulations

Resilience Project

As you all know we a Partnership School of The Resilience Project and their wonderful wellbeing program has been delivered in each of our classrooms for the past couple of years. The Resilience Project delivers emotionally engaging programs to schools, sports clubs and businesses and provide them with evidence based, practical strategies to build resilience and happiness.

Programs offered by The Resilience Project are based on the following strategies:

  • Gratitude - Appreciating what you have, not begrudging what you don’t.
  • Empathy - Thinking of the needs of others/kindness.
  • Mindfulness - Being present in the moment, not becoming distracted by unhelpful or negative thoughts.

Our scheduled parent webinar with Hugh van Cuylenburg (TRP founder) is on

Tuesday 23rd March, 6:30pm-7:30pm

During this presentation, Hugh will share his experiences and combine them with practical strategies that can be implemented every day to improve our overall wellbeing.

Please note that the webinar will include parents from up to 12 of TRP's Partnership Schools, not just Rollins families.

The Zoom link you require to take part in the session is below

Hope to see many Rollins parents and caregivers online as it is a fantastic message and very timely given our experiences of the past 12 months.
