Head Lice
There has been one case of head lice at St John's and this is a timely reminder that we need to keep long hair tied back neatly to avoid further spread. Please take the time to check your child's/children's hair and seek advice from your chemist if you have any concerns.
The 3 Rs - Respect Self, Respect Others and Respect Property
St John’s is a School Wide Positive Behaviours School. Part of this includes our policy on Respect Self, Respect Others and Respect Property.
Respect Self
We can respect ourselves by having a go, persisting, being ready to learn and making good choices. Mistakes are necessary in learning and so our students are consistently encouraged to engage in a growth mindset. A growth mindset includes knowing to persist when faced with challenges and having a “can do” attitude.
Questions to ask your child in encouraging them to respect themselves could include:
-What good choices have you made today?
-What are your strengths?
-What challenges did you face in school?
-What strategies can you try when faced with a challenge?
I can respect myself by using positive self talk.
Daiah
I can respect myself by looking after myself and staying safe.
James
I can respect myself by filling up my own bucket.
Mason
Respect Others
In respecting others, students know from our school wide expectations that we should consistently: allow others to learn, listen to each other because everyone has a voice, keep our hands and feet to ourselves and work together when solving a problem.
I can respect others by not interrupting when they’re speaking.
Kieran
I can respect others by helping them when they’re sad.
Abigail
I can respect others by being nice and respectful.
Lachlan
Respect Property
The last of our three R’s is: Respect Property. Students know we can respect property by keeping our learning spaces clean, returning property, putting rubbish in the bins and respecting our furniture and sports equipment.
I can respect property by returning things where they belong
Sierra
I can respect property by pushing in chairs and holding chromebooks with two hands.
Elodie
I can respect property by pushing in my chair.
