Learning Space 2 Seniors

The LS2 Senior students designed and created interactive math games to play. There were a variety of games created such as Snakes and Ladders and Mathopoloy. This provided opportunities for the students to problem solve, work as a team as well as apply the knowledge of the different Maths skills and concepts that they have learnt during their clinic sessions.

Overall, the students were really engaged with the hands on approach to learning.

LAMONT BOOK FAIR IS BACK !!

                                       Wednesday 31st March

SFS Community Room 2pm – 8pm

Our annual Lamont Book Fair is back once again this year!! The Book Fair has always been a big success at SFS, with a percentage of each book purchased given back to the school to redeem in new books for our School Library.

The generosity of families has always been greatly appreciated and I know that children love going home with a new book to read! Children will have the opportunity to view books on the Monday and Tuesday before books are available for purchase on Wednesday 31st March.

The Book Fair will be held in the school Community Room and will run from 2pm - 8pm. Parents, carers and children will be able to pop in BEFORE or AFTER their parent teacher interviews to purchase a book.

We will have a great selection books available this year as well as some great specials on our $5 bargain trolley. So head down to the Community Room on Wednesday 31st March, have a browse and buy a book to enjoy. We hope to see you there.

The track will start behind LS2 and go along the side of the basketball courts, out the gate near the rainbow playground, along the footpath, back in the gate near the blue playground, along the front of the school and then back through to the oval.

Gates to the car park will be closed and there will be staff supervising along the track. If parents need to enter the school the pedestrian gate along Paterson Drive, across from the station will be open. Please use this gate only.

There will be separate races for boys and girls in each age or grade level. Students placing in the first ten will be awarded a ribbon and points for their House and those who are first in each race will have their names engraved on the school trophies that are kept in our trophy cabinet.

Students will be required to wear their sports uniform as they will be running, but we hope that they will wear a t-shirt that is in their house colour and wear other accessories such as hats, scarves… in their house colour. They will also need to bring their drink bottle and hat.

Please also remember to update your child’s profile on Operoo acknowledging you have done so on the Cross Country notification.

Teresa House - Blue

MacKillop House – Yellow

Bosco House – Red

Patrick House – Green

We will then have assembly after 2nd lunch to announce the winning house and the winners for each race.

At this stage we are not sure if parents will be able to attend to support and watch their children. We have applied to be allowed to have a public event where parents can attend as spectators but the response is still pending. As soon as we receive notification, we will inform you of the outcome and the necessary guidelines for a covid safe event if parents are allowed to attend.

SCHOOL SPORTS VICTORIA

It’s fantastic that this year the first 5 students in each race from 9/10 year olds, 11 year olds and 12/13 year olds will have the opportunity to proceed to District Cross Country in Term 2. Parents of students who come in 1st – 5th will be notified in Term 2.
