Message from Calrossy Secondary

The value of inclusion
One of the highlights of Year 7 is when the students go off on expedition. For the boys, this happened last week (while the Year 7 girls will be in Week 10). The boys spent time learning how to surf at the picturesque location of Scott’s Head. While the boys had a lot of fun surfing, what is most pleasing is how it helps bring the year group together. Coincidentally I had an old boy of the School tell me just last week how vital this expedition was for him and his year group. He told how it helped forged friendships which are still as active today. Inclusion is something that we are well known for at Calrossy.
Calrossy is truly a place for all. We have had a strong history of including others over 102 years. Even when our respective campuses were smaller, students had to band together to help ensure sufficient numbers for sporting teams. What I love about Calrossy is that there is not just one type of Calrossy student. We are not simply an academic school or a sporting school. We cater to people of all gifts and abilities, and we celebrate their success with them; this helps create a culture where students are free to be themselves.
We believe that all students are valuable in God’s sight, and so we seek to support them to become the best version of themselves. We aim to grow and build them along the way. We are building our students into courageous young men and women. We are building young men and women who are confident in themselves and therefore confident to make a difference in the world.
World's Greatest Shave
What an amazing day it was yesterday! The World’s Greatest Shave has been well supported by some enthusiastic and well organised events – Well done Year 12!
The Secondary School met the challenge with energy and followed it up with dollars. The total is growing but not yet finalised – more details in the next issue.
Blue and orange were on display throughout the campuses with crazy hair and interesting haircuts!
Thank you to the many families who supported this important cause.
