National Take a Stand Against Bullying Day

On Friday 19th March, Clyde Primary School is participating in the ‘National Take a Stand Against Bullying’ day. This is an important day to mark Australian school communities standing together against bullying and violence. On this day, our students will learn what bullying is and isn’t and also understand ways to seek support.

I have included some fact sheets from the Bullying No Way website. These fact sheets define bullying and include the different types of bullying.

Harmony Day

On Sunday 21st March, Harmony Day is observed in Australia. Harmony Day is intended to show cohesion and inclusion and promote a tolerant and culturally diverse society. It is celebrated with many community festivals and local events with global food and music and traditional dress. The message of Harmony Day is that 'everyone belongs' and celebrates the heart of who we are, as a nation, by embracing and welcoming new arrivals from around the world as well as acknowledging and celebrating the oldest continuous culture of our first Australians. Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.

On Monday 22nd March, Clyde Primary School will celebrate Harmony Day. On this day student are encourage to wear a ‘splash’ of orange. Students may choose to wear orange hair ties, hair bands, socks, scarf, bracelets or shoes to name a few. On this day, students will participate in a number of activities from varying cultures within their year level. They will also have an opportunity to learn an Indian dance by participating in an incursion by ‘Dance Around the World’. Consent form and payment of $7 has been sent out via Compass. Students will participate in one session on either Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th or Thursday 25th March.
