Acting Principal's Report

The Term In A Flash

I cannot believe that I am already writing my last newsletter excerpt for term 3 2019. I am extremely proud to announce that our students have been busily working throughout the term demonstrating how to be a learner. They have equally excelled in all other areas of our values and expectations and we thank them all, for their contribution to our school in term 3. I would also like to thank our amazing staff and wonderful families for a terrific term in general.

Changes To Concord School Staffing

At the beginning of this term, I wrote of a restructure involving Chloe Venezia, Brittany Fuscaldo and Deanna Cassar. Deanna’s commitments have changed and she will no longer be returning during term 4. We did not want to disrupt the students in her class so Chloe will continue to work as the classroom teacher in PDC for 2019. Brittany will still be commencing her family leave in term 4 and we are very fortunate that Ciara O’Connor has agreed to work as the teacher of SBF during term 4.

Bundoora Campus Assembly

Don’t forget that our termly assembly will be held on the final Monday of term 3 on the 16th of September. This is always a great opportunity for our students to showcase their learning and we would love to see you there.

Photo Wall Bundoora Campus

Many parents have spoken to me during the year about the significant number of staff that we have at Concord and how difficult it is for our parents and families to get to know everyone. We have started to address the feedback we have received and one visible change has been the development of a photo wall in the administration building. The next time you come into visit I recommend that you have a walk down the corridor as you will be able to match some faces to names.

Footy Colours Day

Friday the 20th of September is footy colours day. We will be having a footy parade in the morning followed by some staff verses student games. Parents are invited to the parade that will be held at 9:30am in the Gym of the Bundoora Campus. Lower Primary will also celebrate the day. For more details of the Lower Primary celebrations please contact your classroom teacher.

NDIS/Allied Health Survey

As a school we are trying to be more responsive to the external needs of our students. It would be extremely helpful if we could ascertain which students are accessing NDIS services and what allied health services they might be accessing through that program. We would like to use the information to assist our therapists to connect with external providers and to assist families to access supports if they are not yet doing so. The following links to a survey that will assist us to gather this information.

Building Works

On Monday the 9th September, there will be disruption to the flow of traffic in Gleeson Drive.

We will be removing a portable classroom building which will involve trucks accessing the site.

The Gleeson Drive side of the school will not be accessible to school traffic between the hours of 6:30am and 2:00pm on this day.

Please organise a different morning drop off location for your child. Alternatively, students can be dropped off via the main Grimshaw Street driveway entrance after 9:15am once the buses have departed. Students arriving after 9:00am will need to sign in via the main office.

Bus services will be running as normal on this day.

Students can be picked up from Gleeson Drive as normal after 2:00pm.

There will also be disruption to the flow of traffic in Knight Street. Trucks will be accessing the Watsonia Campus site via Knight Street. Please avoid parking on Knight Street for pick up or drop off.

Principal Award- Jacob Candido

Jacob has worked hard this year to develop his skills in all areas of the learning environment. He has shown growth in his confidence and maturity, as is evident within his role as PCA’s SRC representative.

Jacob recently helped organise the new basketball ring for Upper Primary students. Jacob looks forward to the monthly meetings and is an active contributor when helping facilitate class meetings.

Well done Jacob.
