Numeracy

Numeracy at Staughton
Numeracy at Staughton College in 2016 is off to a fantastic start. Students across Year 7 – 10 have recently completed their first assessments, on the topic of Number, and many have now begun work on the next unit of Algebraic Expressions. Baseline Testing that has been conducted at the beginning of each topic allows us to accurately pinpoint the student’s level of development, and target our teaching to ensure maximum growth is achieved throughout the unit of work.
Meanwhile in VCE, students in Year 11 General Maths are hard at work on their first unit of Algebra and Equations and Year 12 Further Maths students are in the middle of the CORE unit which covers Statistics and Linear Regression. Students studying Maths Methods in both Year 11 and 12 are currently working hard on the unit of Power Functions.
In the meantime the LiNC is once again up and running, providing support to teachers and students who are committing one session per week to problem solving activities.
