School Council Elections
We have received four parent nominations for the two vacant positions on the Staughton College School Council. A ballot will therefore be required to fill the vacant positions. Ballot papers will be prepared and distributed by the 3rd of March and the ballot will close on the 10th of March. Sue Hatton and Maria Alexiou have filled the two vacancies for DET representatives on School Council.
Whole School Swimming Assembly
Last week we had our first whole school assembly for the year. I was very impressed with our school leaders who ran the assembly by themselves. The Houses have been growing in importance at Staughton over the past few years. It was fantastic to see the passion of students in supporting their House Captains at the assembly.
Academic Success and Effort
Even though it feels as though the year has just started, teachers are already about to write their first round of interim reports. It is a good time to reinforce the message that at Staughton we place great emphasis on developing students as Staughton Effective Learners. As students move through the College, we teach them to be responsible (to assess their own learning progress), reflective (to set their own goals), and resilient (to seek feedback and new challenges). High effort is then needed to ensure excellent learning progress. Please ask your children how they are using ‘unit rubrics’ to track their learning progress in their classes.
