School Immunisation Program for 2017

Information sheets and consent cards were given to all Years 7 students last week. If the cards have not yet been returned, it would be appreciated if they could be completed and given to the General Office as soon as possible.

The immunisation schedule is as follows:

Monday 6th March: 1st HPV/ Year 7

Thursday 4th May: 2nd HPV  and Chickenpox/ Year 7

Monday 4th September: 3rd HPV & Boostrix (Diptheria, Tetanus, Whooping Cough)/ Year 7

Students should wear PE uniform on these immunisation days.

Change to the Hot Weather Day Policy

At the end of last year, a decision was made to change our policy regarding hot weather days. This decision was not made lightly, but was based on problems with the previous policy:

  • The uncertainty about whether the predicted maximum temperature was 35 or above;
  • The confusion caused by the change to the timetable at short notice. This also meant that lunchtime activities had to be cancelled or rescheduled; and
  • The experience of the temperature sometimes not reaching the maximum predicted, or a cool change arriving before the end of the school day.

Our care of students on a hot day will now include encouraging them to be inside at lunchtime in air conditioned, supervised rooms at lunchtime:

Year 7s: Lyceum Rooms

Year 8s: Level 2 French Rooms

Year 9s: 303, 304, 305, 309

Year 10s: Level 3 Chinese Rooms

Year 11s: P4, P5 or P6

Year 12s: Room 214 or the Study Centre

We believe the change to the policy provides the best care for our community of over 1400 students.

We would also encourage parents to remind their daughters to drink plenty of water and to be SunSmart at all times, but particularly on hot days.
