An Awesome Team Game - the Year 7 Cricket Team

By Lily Murrihy

On Tuesday last week the Year 7 Cricket Team represented our school in the Regional Finals. Our Team Members were: Phoebe Bullock,  Josie Lennon, Sinead McClay,  Bronte Mosely, Lily Murrihy, Maggie Phillip, Jade Simoni,  Pia Jjuricic and Anika M.

Overall, we played five games. The first two games we won quite easily but the third was definitely a challenge. This game was definitely our most challenging for the day. We began our innings batting and kept getting caught out, but fortunately we fielded and bowled really well and ended up winning the match by a mere two runs! To proceed into the grand final, we had to win our fourth match.

The next challenge was beating a team from the other pool, we hadn’t really seen how they played so we ended up just playing as well as we could and trying our best, which ended up to a great win.

Our last game was the ‘big’ one – the Grand Final! Our opposition was a team we had already played, and we were incredibly nervous, however the planets aligned, and we played an awesome team game. We batted well with some great running between the wickets and talked and backed each other up in the field resulting in a victory of around 70 runs… and now we’re off to the State Finals!

Next round we all hope to come to the crease and play as competitively and consistently as we did in the Regionals so we can get across the line and be the State Champions! But most of all we look forward to having another fun day together.
