Our Community

We Need You!

The Kilvington Community has always been close knit and family friendly. We take pride in our committed volunteer community and deeply appreciate the contribution all our volunteers make.

There is an opportunity to sign up to help out at a range of events in 2017 whether it be in a small or big way. It is fantastic for our students to see their parents involved in any way. There is a list of activities on the Parent Portal, where you can indicate which areas you are interested in volunteering in.

  • Log-in with your parent User ID and password.
  • Go to the My Consents tab. ‘Volunteer’ will appear when you hold your mouse over ‘My Consents’.
  • NEW will appear if you have not logged-in before. Click on NEW.
  • Tick the activities you would like to participate in.
  • Sign off.

You are not locked in to your choices and will be contacted prior to an event to gauge your interest at that time. If you have any queries, please contact pfa@kilvington.vic.edu.au.

Thank you for your support.

Welcome Back Picnic – ELC to Year 6

Our Welcome Back Picnic will be held for ELC to Year 6 families on Friday 24 February from 5.00pm to 7.00pm.

This is a great event to informally catch up with old friends as well as make some new ones. While it is BYO, a BBQ will be provided with complimentary sausages and icy poles, as well as activities for the children.

With the works continuing on The Green, we are still finalising the location for the picnic. Stay tuned!

We look forward to seeing you!

Kelpies Running Club

Our morning Kilvington running club, the Kelpies, started again this week and will continue every Tuesday. This Club is open to students and staff and all abilities and fitness levels.

Meet at the breezeway at 7.25am rain, hail or shine.

The Impact of Pornography Parent Seminar

The impact of pornography on young people has been described as an emerging public health crisis. What can parents do? The issue will be addressed in a free seminar for parents hosted by Independent Schools Victoria on Wednesday 15 March 2017, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.  Hugh Martin, a psychotherapist and founder of the Man Enough program, will provide expert advice and lead the discussion.

The seminar - the first of The Parent Seminars at ISV program - will be held at the ISV offices at 40 Rosslyn Street, West Melbourne, and light refreshments will be served. ISV is close to public transport, and there is plenty of parking.

To register, send your name to Student.Services@is.vic.edu.au with the words ‘Parent Seminar’ in the subject line.

Nut Allergies

In order to minimise the risk of a student having an anaphylactic reaction at school caused by coming into contact with nuts, parents are asked to assist the School, wherever possible, by not allowing their child/ren to bring or eat nuts at school. A school can never claim to be nut free, however, in the interests of the safety of all community members and to minimise the risk to others, we do discourage the bringing and eating of nuts at school.

School Supervision

Senior School

The School is supervised from 8.00am each morning. After 3.50pm, Senior School students not involved in after school supervised activities are to go to the Library where they will be supervised until 5.00pm (Monday to Thursday) and until 4.00pm (Friday).  There is no supervision of Senior School students after 5.00pm as the School is closed.

Junior School

The School is supervised from 8.00am each morning, Junior School students not collected by 3.50pm will be taken to Extend After School Care where they can be supervised until 6.00pm (Monday to Friday).

For students already enrolled with Extend this will incur a casual booking fee. If this is the first time a booking has been made, the annual Enrolment fee will also be charged. For students not enrolled at the time of the first booking, a higher annual Enrolment fee is charged by Extend.

To ensure the safety of all students, parents are asked not to drop off their child/ren before 8.00am, or pick them up after the times designated above.

Playground Equipment Supervision

Students are supervised before school, recess and lunchtimes on the playground equipment located in the School by Kilvington staff. At any other time, if parents/guardians allow their children to play on the School’s playground equipment then the supervision of any children and responsibility for their safety and care resides totally with parents/guardians.

Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF)

CSEF will be provided by the Victorian Government to assist eligible families to cover the costs of school trips, camps and sporting activities.

If you hold a valid means-tested concession card or are a temporary foster parent, you may be eligible for CSEF. A special consideration category also exists for asylum seeker and refugee families. The allowance is paid to the School to use towards expenses relating to camps, excursions or sporting activities for the benefit of your child.
