Year 8 ACU Excursions

Year 8 ACU Excursion
On Tuesday the 27th and Thursday the 29th of November, Year 8 students had the opportunity to visit Australian Catholic University in Melbourne to get a taste of what tertiary education lies ahead after their time at secondary college.
Students participated in truly engaging workshops on courses such as Paramedicine, Law and Nursing that the students really enjoyed. It was informative and fun and gave the students a great insight into what is involved in these courses.
Students were even treated to a delicious lunch while they sat atop the rooftop garden, providing them with a lovely view of inner-city Melbourne.
"On Thursday the 29th of November I went to the ACU university. During the day we were split up into groups of white, green, yellow and blue. My group travelled around the university and did activities around different courses that they offer like nursing, paramedics, occupational therapy and law. We stopped for lunch around 12.00pm where we had a prepared lunch from the university. To be a bit honest the food fine, but the view from the top of the building outside was amazing. Both my friends and I had a good time even though we kind of got split up. Overall the university trip was very educational and fun."

"I had a great time on the excursion. I learnt what an occupational therapist is and think that this might be something I would like to do when I’m older."

"The media studio was really cool. We learnt how to operate the cameras and Kayla and Hayley even got to go on the big screen. The occupational therapy was fun to learn about and we got to test our reflexes."

"Me and my friends Kynan, Jaegar and Kunal had a great time on the bus, sitting at the back of the bus while we went down the highway and over the huge bridge. When we were at ACU, we went into the movie area. We got to go in the media room and he showed us how shows are made and then we went to the medical area and they showed us these cool things like moving an arm with an electric device. Then we went to a person who is studying ambulance stuff and learnt that there are 5 ambulance choppers in Melbourne. My favourite was the medical one."
