Principal's Report

We have many talented students at Staughton College in many different areas. We understand that school is about more than just the learning that happens in the classroom. We have thriving smaller communities in areas of student passion and interest such as sport, performing arts, debating and public speaking, leadership, and community involvement. These are places in school where students can feel they belong, using their strengths and interests to continue to develop and grow as people. Our extracurricular program is an important way in which we celebrate the diversity of talents within our school, and keep our community positively connected. Most importantly it is fun for our students!

This week, I saw many great examples of this at the Debating Showcase. This event celebrated the great work of our debaters during 2018. I really enjoyed the demonstration debate put on by the students! The debating and public speaking community within Staughton is a great example of a place where students feel they belong and thrive. In speaking to parents on the night, a common theme was the development of their children’s confidence and we would like to celebrate the work of the students led by Haley Clancy.

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
